The Code
Twelve principles
Twelve sentences recited on Malam Al-Fityah โ a commitment to Allah and to ourselves, not an oath to an organisation.
01
We do not surrender our minds to the age โ we weigh before we follow, and verify (tabayyun) before we share.
02
We guard our prayers before we guard our schedules โ our time is ordered by the adhan, not by notifications.
03
We do not make this world our final destination โ we hold it in our hands, not in our hearts.
04
We seek knowledge before we give opinions, and practise before we teach.
05
We care for our bodies, because the body is a trust.
06
We are not slaves to impulse โ what we repeat each day is what we have chosen.
07
We choose our friends consciously, and become the kind of friend who makes others better.
08
We work with itqan โ half-heartedness is not in our vocabulary.
09
We dare to speak the truth, with adab, before anyone.
10
We build more than we complain, and plant more than we demand.
11
We leave every person and every place better than we found them.
12
We do not stop at ourselves โ we prepare for death without ceasing to build life, and we form the generation after us.
